The idea behind BalticLSC system is that small companies, research institutions or independent innovators who need supercomputing power could secure it from different resource providers at any given moment by booking it on BalticLSC platform. The initial system will be launched with five project partners providing their own resources, obtained while implementing the project, and connected into BalticLSC network, however, their capacities will be somewhat small. This means limited availability for intensive computation task and, therefore, additional resource providers are welcome to join the network in the future.
Daniel Olsson, a project partner from RISE, visited OpenCompute Regional Summit in Amsterdam where he introduced BalticLSC idea to potential future partners to act as resource providers. This potential collaboration would be beneficial for both sides as BalticLSC system could ensure higher capacities of HPC to the companies, while resource providers could earn some profit providing their supercomputing power while not using it themselves.
If you have additional supercomputing power that you would like to employ for the benefit of smaller entities and also earn some money out of it, please contact one of the project partners from our contact section.
During the visit in Amsterdam Mr. Olsson also learned about the latest trends and developments in open source software and hardware to help in designing the BalticLSC platform.
